Grads: Ocean Observing and Monitoring Division Job Opening


The Ocean Observing and Monitoring Division (NOAA’s Climate Program Office) is seeking a Physical Scientist to perform the following duties:
* Manage a diverse ocean observing portfolio and encourage consideration of new observing technologies including coordination of the Joint Technical Commission for Oceanography and Marine Meteorology (JCOMM), Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS) and the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) requirements.

* Perform full range of analyses for a wide variety of requests, including very difficult, complex or unusual assessments for atmospheric, oceanic or other technological assessments.

* Develop and plan projects including contributing to strategic planning and evaluation processes and supporting preparation of information to propose, defend and manage program budgets.

* Author papers and presentations to distribute to technical and non-technical audiences.

* Represent the organization on technical committees and provide technical advice to scientists in other agencies, nations, academia and industry.
