Undergrads: Join the Dream Project (EDUC 260 & EDUC 369)

Students are welcome to join until Monday, January 9th without starting out behind (as long as you attend class on Monday afternoon), so this could be a great option for students who may be scrambling to add 2 credits to their schedule. We welcome students of all majors/pre-majors and there are no prerequisites.

The Dream Project provides an opportunity for UW students to support low-income and first-generation high school students in South King County on applying to college and other post-secondary planning.

  • Mentor high school seniors on applying to colleges, filing the FAFSA/WASFA to access financial aid, applying to scholarships, and more.
  • Register for EDUC 260 and EDUC 369 on your UW registration. These classes cover important content related to social justice, college access, and mentorship, and will help prepare you to work with students effectively.
  • Lecture (EDUC 260) is on Mondays from 3:30-4:20 or 5:30-6:20. Counts for I&S credit.
  • High School visits (EDUC 369) take place throughout the week at various times. There is also a quiz section on Mondays 4:30-5:20pm.
  • Transportation to our 13 partner schools (AAA, Auburn, Chief Sealth, Cleveland, Federal Way, Foster, Global, Ida B Wells School for Social Justice, Ingraham, Kent-Meridian, Rainier Beach, Renton, and TEC) is provided and travel time is included in EDUC 369 class time.
  • Meet awesome undergrads, gain leadership opportunities, and make new friends
  • Average commitment of ~4-6 hours per week.
